Looking for someone to explore the universe with.

I don't make friends easily, but when I do, they find me open, honest, and intensely loyal. I am intellectually curious -- I read voraciously and enjoy talking about a variety of subjects from astronomy to sponges, from Gilbert and Sullivan to Renaissance art. I am looking for someone who likes a quiet night at home watching a movie or reading a book, but who would also like to go tramping through the woods identifying trees or taking a trip to a subterranean cave. Someone who likes science and philosophy, but who is up for a couple of hot dogs and a ballgame. I admit I am a geek. I like science-fiction, am a big fan of J. R. R. Tolkien, and design games for fun. Some TV shows I've liked are Mythbusters, Stargate SG-1, and John Adams. Among my favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Braveheart. I read a lot. Currently working on Almost a Miracle, a book about the American Revolution, the Shahnamah, the Persian national epic, The Diamond Appraised, a book on baseball history and statistics, and I Am a Strange Loop, on consciousness.
