But an article I was just reading is whether the BBC is profiteering from the sales of Doctor Who related merchandise. They are expected make uber millions of dollars over the holiday season. And there has just been a release that there has now been a manufacturer/distributor signed for the Character Options line of action figures in the U.S. Lots of people are wondering where that money is going. They have to spend that money somewhere and advertising does bring in more money. Vicious circle.

For those of you who don't know what Jamie and I are talking about is the BBC operates on a government license fee paid by everyone who has a TV in the UK. Because of this, the BBC can not make a profit but has to put all revenues generated into new programming. Obviously, it is a little more complicated than that, but this puts it in the simplest terms.
